Choose George Wittlinger, a City Justice in Ancram, New York (but not a lawyer),  has resigned from his posture right after 22 decades on the bench. But this isn’t your regular gold check out instant.

That’s simply because in December, Wittlinger was knowledgeable that the New York Condition Fee on Judicial Perform was investigating allegations he “encourag[ed] a slight to have sexual intercourse with his teenage son, supply[ed] her presents and cash in exchange for sexual favors, and provid[ed] her with alcoholic drinks.” Yikes. Wittlinger was scheduled to show up for testimony in advance of the Fee on January 12, 2022, but instead than do that, he just handed in his resignation (agreeing to never find or settle for judicial place of work again) — a move that put the kibosh on the investigation.

As Commission Administrator Robert H. Tembeckjian explained:

“Claims of sexual impropriety, specifically in which they contain a decide and a minimal, must be dealt with immediately as properly as rather, in buy to maintain community assurance in the courts. Whether or not such severe allegations guide to criminal or civil proceedings, the Judicial Conduct Commission will investigate and consider proper disciplinary motion. Effectuating a judge’s lasting departure from the bench is our most substantial authority, and that happened below.”

As noted by the New York Post, the make a difference arrived to the Commission’s consideration when the alleged victim, below the moniker P.T., submitted a $7 million lawsuit against the judge and his son, Daniel, alleging the judge pressured her into a sexual marriage with the son and presented her funds to “fondle” him:
